Better than a Registry Cleaner

We have recently used a new product that totally rocks for PC optimization. This is way better than any Registry cleaner we have used, because it incorporates everything to do with PC optimization into one package. Not only will it clean the Registry, but it will optimize the hard disk, fix processes, remove duplicate items, repair startup items and even remove Malware.

The results we have witnessed were really cool and this was on XP and Windows 7 computers. You can of course get a free download to test out all the functionality. This software is called PC Health Advisor, to read the full PC Health Advisor review and get the download, just follow the link.

When Not to Use a Registry Cleaner

Registry Cleaners – When Not to Use

I often get asked whether or not to use a Registry cleaner for PC optimization. Well, obviously the answer is yes, because Registry cleaning is an important aspect for anyone that wants great performance.

But there are times when a Registry cleaner will do jack.

Sometimes a user will email me, telling how they downloaded this Registry cleaner and now their computer is even slower. Well, 9 times out of 10, the problem is Spyware or a virus. Unfortunately a Registry cleaner will not remove Spyware, Viruses or Malware. A Registry cleaner can remove some of the Registry entries created by these programs, but if the Malware is not fully removed, it will keep recreating itself in the Registry.

So you can run the cleaner and you won’t see any performance gains. Some Spyware and Malware can take hold of your system and slow it to a halt. Quite often it is hard to know that the problem is Malware and the only proven method is to run a Malware/Spyware removal tool. This should be a regular part of any users maintenance schedule.

Malware and Viruses are so common these days that we all need protection. You can scan your PC via the link below, with XoftSpy. This product is not all that well known, but it performs better than many of the major, more expensive software.

Speed Up Windows Boot Time

Speed Up Boot Time for Windows

Is your Windows taking forever to boot up? Well this can be quickly fixed in Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.

The best and easiest way to speed up boot time in Windows is with the MSCONFIG utility. To access this utility just type "msconfig" into the search box. For Windows XP you will need to click on Start -> Run, then type in "msconfig".

The MSCONFIG utility brings up a window with tabs that let you control services and Startup programs. Under the Services tab you can disable any services that you do not need. Be careful and make sure you only disable services that you are sure of. The Startup tab lets you select or de-select which items to run during startup. By altering these, you can save a lot of time during bootup. Many programs that run during startup are probably never even used, so why waste resources and time.

You can also tweak the startup time of your PC with a tool such as Regcure. Regcure provides a full startup manager and if you do not feel comfortable editing MSCONFIG, then that is a much safer option.

Want to Fix DLL Files

Description of DLL Files

The DLL file (dynamic link library) is a library that holds code and data which can be used many programs concurrently, it is very much like a library that provides resources to different applications. This promotes code reuse and a much more effective OS.

As the use of DLL files helps promote modularization of code, code reuse, better memory usage, and less disk space, the operating system and the applications load more quickly, run faster, and take less disk space on the PC.

However, trouble with DLL files is all too common. In the event that a DLL becomes damaged, this will most likely hinder multiple applications, because the DLL is a shared resource. This is why it is crucial to keep your DLL files in peak condition.

How DLL Troubles Begin:

  • An application could be uninstalled that removed a .dll file that was shared by other applications or the OS itself
  • Software can be installed that overwrites a .dll file with an older version or a version not recognized with other programs therefore creating .dll problems
  • A corrupt installation of an application can damage one or more files creating the .dll problems
  • The .dll file could be deleted on accident or by a malicious program.
  • The computer could have hardware trouble such as a bad drive, causing corruption of .dll files.
  • Malicious software can destroy or damage .dll files
